Same translations, two places to run them. LATW Cloud translates on our servers and you pay per word - no API key, no licence. A Pro plugin translates on your own server with your own AI key, for a yearly licence. Here is how to choose - and when to use both.
LATW Cloud trades a little control for zero setup and no server limits; a Pro plugin keeps everything on your server, on the engine you pick.
The sites we see most often, and what we would recommend for each.
You want the site in a few languages and do not want an AI provider account, keys or billing limits. Pay as you go: top up $5 and translate - no subscription.
Every client site in one dashboard, one Credits balance, glossaries shared across sites and a cost report per client with CSV export. Startup covers 5 sites, Agency 30.
Translating thousands of pages can overload a small server and stop halfway. LATW Cloud does the work on its own servers - no technical server problems - so you can send the whole site and close the tab.
Company policy or a client contract says content may only go to one approved AI provider. A Pro plugin sends it straight from your server to that provider - nothing passes through LATW.
Products, variations and attributes need a Pro licence for the domain. With it, you can translate locally on your own key, or send the big catalogue to LATW Cloud to run overnight.
Keep translating day to day with your Pro plugin and your keys. Connect LATW Cloud only for the jobs too big for your hosting - Batch mode on a paid plan halves the price.
LATW for WPML and LATW for Polylang - free or Pro - and LATW Multilingual Pro can translate locally or through LATW Cloud. Switching is one setting, and translations always land in the same place, so you can change your mind at any time.
Not sure which one fits your site? Write to us - we'll tell you honestly.
Where the translating happens and how you pay for it. LATW Cloud translates on our servers and bills per word with LATW Credits, so you need no API key and no licence. A Pro plugin translates on your own WordPress server with your own AI key: you pay a yearly licence to LATW and the AI provider directly for usage.
Not for WPML or Polylang. LATW Cloud works with the free LATW for WPML and LATW for Polylang plugins from WordPress.org; only LATW Multilingual needs its Pro edition to connect. The other exception is WooCommerce: products, variations and attributes need a Pro licence for the domain, in local mode and in LATW Cloud alike.
Yes. LATW Cloud is a mode inside the plugin, not a replacement for it. Many people translate everyday edits locally with Pro and their own keys, and send big jobs to LATW Cloud so they never run into technical server problems.
Quality depends on the AI model, not on where it runs. LATW Cloud offers leading AI models in three quality classes - Economy, Standard and Premium - or the models of your own AI API keys; Pro plugins also offer DeepL, Google Translate and other engines on your own key. Both use your glossary and protect HTML, shortcodes and blocks.
Yes, at any time and in both directions. Translations are always saved in your multilingual plugin, so nothing has to be migrated - you only change the engine the plugin uses.
Both can be used in line with GDPR. A Pro plugin sends content only to the AI provider you choose. LATW Cloud adds one EU-hosted processor in between, deletes your text 7 days after the job and offers a data processing agreement in your account.
Connect the free plugin to LATW Cloud and translate a few pages - no licence, no API key, no monthly fee. If you later want everything on your own server, switch to Pro in one setting.
